About Us > The Organisation

Hucknall Operatic Society is a small and lively amateur musical theatre group, based in Hucknall near Nottingham, whose aim is to present the very best in musical theatre.

We pride ourselves in putting on shows to the very highest standards in amateur theatre. We were founded in 1981 and since then have performed everything from Gilbert and Sullivan to "Chicago and "Oh What A Lovely War!". In the last few years we have performed all the great Rogers and Hammerstein shows, including a tribute to Richard Rogers in his centenary year called "Some Enchanted Evening".

The Organisation

Hucknall Operatic Society is run on democratic lines by a hard-working committee which meets on a monthly basis to administer the affairs of the society.

At the appropriate time each year the committee calls on members to make suggestions for future shows. A long list of shows is then reduced to a short list. These shows are then researched by members of the committee and a shorter list of two or three shows is produced for the membership to vote on. The production team is then appointed.

Youth Membership

We are looking for a new Musical Director to run the Youth Section, First Stage, since Hazel Priestley-Hobbs has stepped down.

Anyone interested should contact Paula Alford at paula.alford@ntlworld.com
